Hi Folks!

What a fulfilling week we’ve had — and it’s not over yet!

Last Sunday, we launched the official “Stranger At Home” website. Here we’ll continue to keep you posted about everything going on with the film.

The growing list of names of ALL of our wonderful donors is posted on the website, including our now “live” donate button where we’ll continue our fundraising efforts from here to eternity — or at least until the film is made and distributed!

I’m thrilled to tell you that the beautiful collection of original poetry we’re posting on the website — “Sleeping With The War” by Melissa Comeau — has just been picked up for publishing. It’s gorgeous, authentic work by a writer who lives with and loves a veteran who struggles with Post Traumatic Stress and we couldn’t be happier for her publishing victory.

On Tuesday, we shot our first day with the McCormick Family. Both Vietnam Veteran Richard and his wife, Arlene, opened their home and hearts to us.

Their life together began in Pasaic, New Jersey and now they reside in Los Angeles, where we had the opportunity to film them.

For the McCormicks, their desire to share their own journey, healing and understanding about Post Traumatic Stress — to help others who are also struggling with this very real injury — is the stuff soul service is made of.

We got so much special “clay” in our filming time with them and truly, as far as sculpting a documentary goes, there will be much more before the weave of the movie starts to reveal its shape to us. We’re good with that process — goin’ with the flow!

Today, we had a pre-filming meeting with the loving and healing folks at the EEG Institute out here in Southern, CA. Wow! They are offering some tremendously effective neurofeedback therapy to our veterans, struggling with the symptoms of PTSD. We were knocked out by their research and their hearts — others who want to help!

And as I’ve been promising…

This Sunday, July 20th from 4-5PM (PDT) on BEING DELIBERATELY radio, we’re honored to have Dr. Jonathan Shay as our guest.

Jonathan was a psychiatrist with the Boston VA for over twenty years and is the author of the acclaimed “Achilles In Vietnam”.  He is an advocate and self-proclaimed missionary for the compassionate and comprehensive treatment — in mind, body and spirit — for our service men and women as they integrate from military to civilian life. Currently, there is NO national program or process available to these veterans.

Dr. Shay loves questions, so PLEASE, call one in during the live broadcast — the call-in number will be at the top of your screen. No matter what, please join us for what’s going to be a most elevated conversation on the subject of Post Traumatic Stress and the moral injuries of war.  Here’s the link:

In all my years in the entertainment industry, I’ve never experienced doors flying open so fast and fully as I have with moving forward on “Stranger At Home.” I’m not questioning this at all. Just truly looking on in awe and appreciation.

Onward!

Beth

P.S.  Don’t forget to explore our new website and be sure and share the journey with others as well. Thank you!
